Lead investigation of near miss and injury incidents and assist with developing and tracking the corrective actions
Develop and implement the EHS Training Plans for the site
Coordinate and present training programs in general safety and facility training and/or specialty area
Conduct safety portion of New Employee Orientation
Ensure site maintains compliance regarding local, state and federal health, safety and environmental standards and requirements
Track and report activities for the Balanced Scorecard
Coordinate with Plant Manager on facility deficiencies and monthly safety inspections/audits
Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected
Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements (OSHA 300, TIER, etc.)
Collaborate with Engineering, Process Engineering and/or Maintenance to update needed SOP’s as needed to ensure safe work practices and equipment utilization
Maintain filing systems regarding worker training and safety
Participate in institutional professional development and training
Participate in the development of safety guidelines and related environmental health and safety communications and educational information
Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company
Provide advice, assist and management to ensure that effective EHS processes are implemented
Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee / supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach
Serve as chair on safety committees/councils
Maintain inventory of safety equipment and supplies
Support ISO14001 certification activities (if applicable)
Perform other related duties as assigned
Secondary responsibilities of learning the QMS and assisting the quality team
Education and Certifications:
Highschool Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety, or related field preferred
2 or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment leading environmental and safety compliance is preferred
Specific training in OSHA, emergency response, basic first aid, CPR and use of an AED preferred
Safety Certification/s (CSP, ASP, SMS, OHST, CHST, STS, STSC, CET) a plus
