Description:

Provide leadership and management direction to mill operations to ensure achievement of all applicable business unit objectives while conforming to established policies, procedures, guidelines, budgets and/or specifications as well as all applicable local, state, and federal codes and laws.  Work with other business unit leaders to influence decisions to positively affect overall optimization of operations.

 

responsibilities:

1.  Safety Leadership

a.Exercise personal leadership to provide an environment that puts a priority on providing a safe and healthy workplace for employees and conforms to applicable local, state, and federal codes and laws governing loss control.

b. Lead the development of effective safety programs and eliminate non-value-added safety activity.

 

2.  Achieve long-term manufacturing advantage for the business

a. Maintain an effective Quality management process that will ensure conformance to all customer requirements.

b. Deliver consistent product quality that meets customer expectations.

c. Develop and implement continuing cost improvement plans and programs that ensure continuity or a competitive and profitable manufacturing facility.

d. Support business platforms for brand positioning, product development, supply chain capabilities and customer service.

e. Develop and maintain initiatives to ensure long-term reliability of the plant, property, and equipment.

f. Maintain high levels of housekeeping and sanitation.

g. Ensure Corporate Financial controls are established and followed.

 

3.  Manage capital spending to sustain operations, support strategic initiatives, and reduce costs while meeting financial expectations

a. Facilitate evaluation of capital project feasibility and value with a priority on projects that reduce cost.

b. Minimize sustaining capital projects without compromising facility reliability, effectiveness, and appearance.

c. Drive non-value-added cost out of capital project proposals.

 

4.  Direct site environmental activities to achieve corporate and business expectations

a. Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal codes and laws.

b. Support marketing efforts to develop an environmental message and advantage.

c. Support the continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System

 

5.  Team Development

a. Lead efforts to move towards a culture of high achievement and support culture.

b. Establish and maintain an optimum mill organization to ensure that the mill is adequately staffed with qualified, trained, and motivated people to meet current and future requirements.

c. Ensure the development of all employees to the maximum of their potential.

d. Develop succession plans to ensure bench strength.

e. Maintain a positive employee relations climate to maintain non-union status

 

6.  Community Relations

a. Positively and responsibly represent Mativ in the local community.

 

qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a 4-year degree in a related discipline, an MBA is a plus.
  • 7+ years’ experience in a leadership role in manufacturing management, preferably in paper-based industry or another continuous process-oriented operation.
