POSITION TITLE: Utility Operator 

LOCATION: Roanoke, VA 

DESCRIPTION: Our Utility Operator position supports Mativ’s Extrusion operations and Conversion operations.  This individual will also keep the Plant floor and break room in a neat and orderly manner through daily housekeeping chores.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Production

  • Operate offline sheeter as necessary
  • Enter data for sheeter into data collection
  • Stage raw materials
  • Assist with scrap, baling, retrieving pallets
  • Assist with doffing operation
  • Clean and debur tuber
  • Pack tubes for line 410/411
  • Assist as directed in Extrusion, Conversion and Shipping

Housekeeping

  •        Mop the floors
  •        Clean tables, cabinets, and counters
  •        Take out trash

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Required 

  •        High School Diploma or equivalent 
    • Basic mathematical skills
    • Read and comprehend English, including English measuring system
    • Ability to coordinate activities of the utility (understand and process info to Data Collection System)
    • Ability to read a ruler to the nearest ¼”

Preferred 

  •        Forklift Certification 

Position Demands

Conditions are that of a manufacturing environment: 

  •        Air Temperatures can range from cold to hot. 
  •        Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors. 
  •        May include mechanical, electrical, chemical, and explosive hazards. 

Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including: 

  •        Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe) 
  •        Safety Glasses 
  •        Bump Caps 
  •        Protective Gloves, when performing certain tasks 
  •        Hearing Protection, when required 
  •        Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks. 

 

While performing the duties of this job the employee must meet the physical demands: 

  •        Be able to lift up to 70 pounds. 
  •        Perform repetitive tasks. 
  •        Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk. 
  •        Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and balance, sometimes in awkward or tight spaces. 
  •        Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
