We have an exciting opportunity to join our accounting and finance team, as Cost Analyst. In this role, you will provide costing and analytical support to the operations at our Munising site.  Also, provide support to the Finance Manager and Business Analysts.

 

responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

 

  • Provide financial, business and process analytics to enable operations to achieve or exceed its business objectives.
  • Support cost saving initiatives by working in partnership with Operations.  Calculate and track savings against established targets.  Actively participate in various cost savings projects.
  • Review and update standard costs and BOM’s on a continual basis. Including development of standard asset rates.
  • Support related process initiatives to ensure improved performance.
  • Work with accounting teams to ensure a timely and accurate month end closing.
  • Support the monthly closing process by reviewing and closing jobs, reviewing results, and making required journal entries.
  • Develop a thorough working knowledge of the Oracle ERP costing, accounting, and inventory systems.
  • Ensure financial reporting responsibilities are done in a manner consistent with NPI and SOX compliance requirements.             
  • Provide effective and accurate KPI and performance reporting for all areas of responsibility.
  • Construct and lead/report out on monthly cost review packages and update KPI’s for Munising leadership group.  Recommend improvements, coordinate follow-up actions, and resolve open matters.
  • Provide financial planning and forecasting to meet business requirements.
  • Provide forecasting Munising’s Cost of Manufacturing.
  • Provide analysis specific to any Outside Converting activities.
  • Provide timely and accurate quoting for cost estimates.

 

 qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or another business-related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in accounting, finance or business analytics role required.
  • Experience with financial reports, forecasting, and data analysis required.
  • Requires Microsoft Excel skills.

 

 

Preferred

Manufacturing experience

  • Highly motivated individual able to take direction from managers and developing skills to solve problems with little guidance.
  • Must be able to collaborate within a matrixed organization (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, IT, Supply Chain, Customer Service).
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables with internal customers across the Segment and functions.
  • Ability to prioritize work while working on multiple projects and ensuring timely delivery of projects to a high standard.
  • Comfortable working to sometimes short deadlines and often with changing and competing priorities.
  • Process driven with the desire for improvement and efficiency.
