Position Title: Process Engineer

Location: Neenah, WI

Description:

Under the direction of the Continuous Improvement Leader, this position is responsible for helping drive continuous improvement in overall operations at the Neenah Mill. This role supports operations by facilitating and utilizing Mativ Impact to drive improvements in safety, productivity, quality, and cost reduction. Utilize A3 Thinking and other continuous improvement techniques to efficiently execute projects with a structured approach.

Responsibilities:

1. Support the development of a continuous improvement culture at the Neenah facility that is high in personal accountability and engagement.

  • Lead CI projects or serve as the supporting CI engineer for assigned projects on the CI activity calendar.
  • Support open CI Events and provide guidance to project leaders in Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs), Continuous Improvement Projects (CIPs), and Just Do Its (JDIs).
  • Utilize CI skills and techniques to facilitate project meetings and events.
  • Support RIE team leaders by outlining pre-event checklist items and ensuring they have the resources, necessary data, and other tools to prepare for the event.
  • Identify key metrics and develop sustainable data collection plans to be used by the Operations Administrator.
  • Utilize visual management to allow the hourly workforce to understand if they are winning or losing.
  • Perform Gemba walks on active projects/RIEs.
  • Remain active in discussions on CI activities with the hourly workforce to maintain and increase engagement from all employees.
  • Ensure completion plans for open CI projects are progressing.
  • Work with Finance on open CI projects to confirm benefits.
  • Monitor progress of active CIPs, following up with team leaders to ensure the project is on track
  • Act as a resource for JDIs and remove any barriers for the project leader.

Education/ Qualifications

  • A four-year degree in engineering, management, paper science or related technical field is desired.
  • Prior related experience in a process-oriented manufacturing environment and continuous improvement processes such as Lean and Six Sigma will be considered.
  • A demonstrated track record of proven performance and ability to lead teams.
  • Experience with customer interactions; ideally collaborating with others to help define needs, identify solutions and resolve problems.
