responsibilities:    

Organizational Safety Systems    

  • Developing training strategies, implementation plans, content and delivery (in-person, web-based and site-specific) 
  • Compliance and management safety audits
  • EHS information management systems and digital platforms (Velocity EHS, Brady 360, and Humantech)
  • All forms of safety risk assessment methods, with a demonstrated track record of using JSAs and other risk tools to systematically drive workplace safety improvements
  • Incident management and root cause investigative techniques
  • Workers Compensation and Third-Party Administrator coordinated management
  • ISO 45001, 50001, 40001 or equivalent safety management standards
  • Lean Continuous Improvement processes, and how to effectively integrate Lean principles into safety planning and management processes
  • Development and prioritization of the five year capital plan for safety improvement
  • Safety review of capital engineering projects and leveraging applicable ANSI, NFPA and ISO standards for safe engineered design of machinery, equipment, processes and components
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety Management systems as it relates to trainings, document control, and policies
  • Assisting facilities in developing effective contractor safety programs

     

     

Life Critical Procedures    

  • LOTO, and confined space procedures and permit systems. Experience with the Brady Link360® system is a plus
  • Electrical Safe Work Practices (ESWP), arc flash training and requirements, NFPA 70 and 70E requirements applied in industrial manufacturing environments
  • Safe Work Permit Systems
  • Elevated Work Platforms and working at heights
  • Powered Industrial Truck safety training and requirements
  • Coordinating and responding effectively to Risk Consultant recommendations
  • Confined Space administrator programmer.

     

Standard Work for Leaders     

Coaching and guiding front-line leaders on:    

  • Effective hazard identification and tracking corrective actions through to completion
  • How to create employee engagement in safety related activities
  • How to have effective safety conversations with employees to consistently reinforce safety as a value

     

Safety Science and Management    

  • Assisting the manufacturing facilities in the development of emergency response plans, emergency drills and training
  • Developing site security assessment tools and providing guidance to manufacturing facilities to reduce security vulnerabilities and risk mitigation
  • Applying adult learning theory, safety science and adaptive, experiential techniques to deliver effective and impactful training

     

Environmental    

  • Maintain permits in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines

     

Other Responsibilities    

  • Manage team of environmental and health and safety professionals
  • Develop strategies to mitigate safety risk and hazard
  • Participate in incident investigations
  • Develop and provide trainings
  • Participate in safety and ergo teams
  • Report EHS metrics to corporate team
  • Administer Hearing conservation program

     

qualifications:    

Minimum of bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, with strong preference given to Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental, science, engineering, or other technical disciplines.     

     

8+ years of managing safety in industrial manufacturing environments and managing in a multi-site role is a plus.     

     

Relevant certifications are a plus (CIH, CHMM, CSP, ASP).     

     

This role supports our facilities in and around the Watertown and Lowville, NY area and the candidate must reside in this area. Relocation is available for the right candidate.   

Compensation range $95,000 - $115,000
