Mativ’s Whiting Mill is looking for a Process Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team where your experience and efforts make a difference. This position will report to the Sr. Technical Manager and will be located in Stevens Point, WI.

 

The incumbent will enhance and maintain various systems to meet the safety and operational objectives of the facility. This position will identify opportunities to improve operations while reducing asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. The incumbent will provide technical expertise for human machine interface best practices to optimize safety, quality and productivity. Drive toward achieving an injury-free workplace

  • Lead by example and participate in the development and implementation of all safety programs, activities and initiatives
  • Create a culture that promotes injury reporting and behavior observation
  • Support a culture where safety is designed into all equipment additions and modifications

 

Responsibility for reliability and enhancing usage of the QCS / DCS systems throughout the mill, including operations and utilities

  • Maintain QCS / DCS equipment reliability
  • Manage service contracts with vendors as appropriate
  • Manage parts costs associated with QCS / DCS systems
  • QCS / DCS system tuning
  • Provide technical assistance and training with the use of QCS / DCS systems
  • Improve Human-to Machine interfaces allowing for greater utilization of resources
  • Systems include but not limited to: Oracle, ABB, Wonderware, QiSoft, PanelView, Redhawk, Ametek, Valmet
  • Lead implementation of Industry 4.0

 

Responsible for enhancing Oracle Utilization with the facility

  • Assist with the implementation and control changes in Oracle for operations
  • Utilize Oracle to support business decisions
  • Assist with testing prior to upgrades

 

Provide technical expertise to modify existing mill process and/or add new processes that will improve quality and increase profitability

  • Support development and execution of projects; specifically, in the area of process control
  • Support development and execution of projects that pertain to an increase in profitability
  • Support strategic goals of the organization by developing and executing cross functional projects that support Neenah Inc goals and future needs

  • Participate in various training programs to develop skills necessary for an operations environment.
  • Explore future goals and areas of personal growth by staying well-rounded with responsibilities within quality, R&D, cost savings, and operations.

 

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, controls, engineering or a related area, and at least three years’ experience which demonstrates process troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of systems or controls experience in paper mill, coating, saturating or converting operations is preferred.
  • Understanding of activities and procedures required for efficient and quality work completion.
  • Strong computer skills including, but not limited to a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project. Experience with Oracle is helpful.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to communicate within all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced production setting
  • Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment is a distinct plus.
