Description:
Perform required operations necessary to ensure accurate mixing of adhesives with solvents and additives. Responsible for weighing, measuring, precise mixing and the inventorying of adhesives, solvents and additives.
**Work schedule: Friday - Sunday, 6:00am - 6:00pm.**
Responsibilities:
- Communicates with lead person or shift supervisor to ascertain mixing requirements for upcoming shift. Determines amount of adhesive at machines and in mix room at shift’s start.
- Reads work orders and determines adhesive requirement.
- Verifies accuracy of quantity and type of materials delivered from warehouse and drum room. Ensures that materials have been staged by warehouse personnel in the proper area.
- Utilizing mixing equipment, formulates, mixes, blends adhesives with solvents, additives, pigments and/or other adhesives.
- Follows mix instructions as documented on the instructions sheet or work order. Logs tests and records of mixing in log book.
- Accurately prepares the correct quantity.
- Enters required information into computer data base, ensuring proper lot control and item number assignment.
- Responsible for correct labeling of drums and totes (both lids and sides).
- Delivers prepared adhesives to the machines. Verifies and removes empty drums from the machines. Labels and stores empty drums per company procedure. Interacts with warehouse personnel to facilitate return of unused materials.
- Maintains continuous communication during shift regarding changes and updates of adhesive requirements.
- Cleans mixers after each use. Keeps mixing room clean and organized at all times.
- Supplies the coater personnel with solvents for cleaning, following the safety rules for handling solvents.
- Pre-weighs all adhesive additives (dyes, pigments, fiberglass, etc.) and stores in assigned inventory area.
- Handles hazardous waste per company policy.
- Operates a drum crusher.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations with handling solvents and adhesives.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications:
- Requires a high school diploma, or equivalent GED.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Good mathematical skills.
- Capable of accurately using various measuring devices and timers.
- Must wear require Personal Protection Equipment, as defined in MSDS, when handling adhesives, additivies, solvents and any other prescribed material.
- Keeps work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Complies with company attendance policies.
- Assists Coater Operators as needed and as time permits.
- Removes and returns, to the drum storage area, all drums, totes and containers for which there is no need.
