Technical Writer Intern (Summer 2026) - Whiting, WI
Starting Pay: $22.00-$25.00/hr., depending on experience
Schedule: This is typically a Monday through Friday daytime role, however some off-shift work may be required.
Mativ is currently searching for a Technical Writer Intern to join our Whiting Mill plant for a 10 plus week on-site internship beginning in May of 2026. This position is an excellent opportunity to impact our business by enhancing operator understanding of current equipment and processes, as well as help our people best utilize new equipment and procedures. This impact will typically be achieved through creating and revising technical documents such as manuals, visual aids, SOPs and presentations.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
- Write and edit procedural documentation such as user guides and manuals.
- Meet with engineers, operators, and management to learn about specific products or processes.
- Assess the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended; adjust tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding.
- Plan writing processes and set timelines and deadlines.
- Create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a product or process.
- Gather feedback from operators, management and other training professionals to improve technical documents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in English, Technical Writing or related field
- Minimum GPA- 3.0
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical capabilities test, pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and a background check.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability and willingness to meet our operators where their work is done on the operating floor and wear required PPE when doing so.
Preferred
- Manufacturing or other process related experience
- LMS experience or familiarity
- Prior internship experience

- Demonstrated project management skills and ability to balance multiple assignments at once
- While performing the routine duties of this position, the candidate must be able to stand, sit, walk, talk, bend, twist, balance and possess good close vision and depth perception.
