Summer Vacation Relief- Whiting, WI
Starting Pay: $28.12/hour. Per CBA language, work performed on Sundays and contractual holidays is paid at double time.
Schedule: Shift work, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Shifts are typically 8 hours in length, but may be as long as 12 hours and occasionally 16 hours. Summer Vacation Reliefs may be utilized as early as May 4, 2026, but not longer than September 13, 2026. Summer Vacation Reliefs accrue no seniority and may be laid off or terminated at the discretion of the Company at any time during this period.
As a Summer Vacation Relief, you will play a vital role in supporting multiple departments within the mill. This hands-on position involves driving powered industrial vehicles, operating cranes, monitoring production equipment, and working alongside Operators on paper machine and converting assets.
Responsibilities:

Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe work environment

Communicate effectively in both team-based and self-directed settings

Assist in the paper-making process by performing tasks such as:

Preparing stock for use
-
Threading paper machines and winders
-
Operating overhead cranes
-
Transporting rolls using powered industrial vehicles
-
Loading and unloading paper in production areas
-
Moving finished product to the shipping department
Qualifications:
Required
-
First consideration will be given to: (1) individuals previously employed with the Whiting Mill and (2) children of active employees.

18 years of age or older.
-
High school diploma or GED.
-
Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to pass pre-employment physical capabilities test, pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and a background check.
Preferred
-
Manufacturing or other process related experience preferred but not required.

Fulltime enrollment in an accredited college or university
POSITION DEMANDS:
This position operates in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, dust, odors, and potential exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards.
Employees must wear required PPE (e.g., safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, gloves).
Physical demands include:

Lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing up to 108 lbs, pulling up to 60 lbs.

Working extended shifts (up to 16 hours)

Performing repetitive tasks and working in tight spaces

Good vision and focus required

Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification required
