Senior Accountant

POSITION: Senior Accountant

LOCATION: Windsor, CT

 

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Senior Accountant is flexible, adaptable, and willing to jump in and learn the processes associated with cash, prepaids, intercompany, and many other aspects of accounting and financial reporting.  The Senior Accountant is a key member of the Controller’s group and performs a range of accounting duties to ensure the accuracy of the general ledger and financial statements. This position will record monthly journal entries and review accounts, perform monthly account reconciliations, compile and analyze financial data, and work cross functionally.  The role is detail oriented and will be involved in the improvement of processes and internal controls.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for month end close activities including preparing asset, liability, revenue, expense, and equity account journal entries
  • Monitors, reviews, and records treasury and GL account activity by compiling and analyzing account information for assigned accounts
  • Evaluates intercompany transactions and matching balances of assigned partners, both domestic and international
  • Reconciles financial general ledger accounts in Blackline by collecting and providing supporting documents
  • Performs root cause analyses and create reclass journal entries as needed, tracking the status of any aging reconciling items
  • Recommends accounting actions based on root cause analysis driving change and efficiencies
  • Reviews flux and trend analyses of financial statement data
  • Develops training and reference materials for standardization of processes and cross-training
  • Substantiates financial transactions by providing supporting documents for entries, reconciliations, and audit support
  • Maintains financial integrity by following internal controls and reviews transactions to ensure compliance with US GAAP and company policies
  • Collaborates with internal and external auditors as required
  • Provides financial reporting support to the tax team and assist in tax compliance
  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and activity
  • Assists with financial systems and other projects as needed
  • Additional duties as assigned

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

REQUIRED

  • A minimum of 3+ years’ experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting

 

PREFERRED

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Public manufacturing company with corporate environment
  • Experience with large ERP (Oracle, SAP, or Infor LN)
  • Strong foundation in accounting principles
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong understanding of internal controls
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid understanding of financial closing process and monthly/quarterly cycles
  • Proficient in large scale ERP systems – Oracle or SAP experience a plus
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Suite including Excel – Intermediate (pivot tables, lookups, conditional formatting, create tables, create filters, etc.), Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Blackline experience preferred

Manufacturing experience a plus
