Quality Analyst

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Analyst is involved in broad scope quality responsibilities for the site including, but not limited to, raw material specifications, control of non- conforming material, customer complaints investigation, equipment calibration, cable lab activities coordination, quality system maintenance, internal audits, supplier audits, and general problem solving.  This individual is a key member of the Operations support team responsible for the overall operational effectiveness of the site.

Specific Responsibilities:

 

Quality Control:

  • Monitors QC data and shift reports daily to identify quality problems, recommend remedial action, and implement actions as required.
  • Assists with the training and guidance of manufacturing staff with regards to customer specific requirements and implementation of process improvements.
  • Provides technical expertise to the lab staff as it pertains to quality control process including product testing and release.
  • Reports all significant QC issues to the quality manager and appropriate manufacturing cell leader within the site.
  • Ensures that non-conforming internal material issues are documented and resolved through the MRB process and is active in the review and processing of materials in the segregated non-conforming materials area.
  • Provides occasional coverage for lab techs on 12hr continental shifts.

 

Supplier Quality:

  • Oversee the control of the critical raw material based on the established control plans.
  • Works closely with other departments to develop and maintain key raw material specifications.
  • Ensures that raw material quality defects are monitored and documented through ICS, reviews supplier corrective actions.
  • Works closely with purchasing and suppliers on complaints and ensures resolution in a manner consistent with Scapa’s quality objectives and metrics.
  • Participate in off-site supplier audits as required.

 

Customer Interface:

  • Creates, maintains and updates customer specific requirements work instruction as needed.
  • Ensures conformance with the customer specific requirements through process and product audits and provides employee training as needed.
  • Perform analysis and investigation of customer complaints.
  • Works closely with cell leaders, engineering department and customer service towards closer of customer complaints in a manner consistent with the site’s quality metrics.
  • Reviews and approves COA documentation for key customers.
  • Supports automotive, regulatory, and product part approval processes.

 

Quality System:

  • Complies with all requirements of the site Quality system.
  • Oversee calibration system and maintains test equipment calibrations by performing assigned test equipment calibration tasks on time. 
  • Establishes and maintains work instructions and procedures in compliance with the quality system requirements.
  • Maintain quality alert system and provide communication and updates on internal issues and resolutions.
  • Participates in problem solving activities related to product quality and waste reduction initiatives. 
  • Maintain process audit schedule, conduct process audits, review completed audits, and open and maintain internal complaints as necessary.
  • Develops and modifies quality inspection plans and certificate profiles/CoA generation as needed in SAP.
  • Monitors and completes internal complaint investigations to determine root cause, implement and validate corrective actions.
  • Acts as one of the site contacts during third party quality system audit.

 

 

Qualifications:

            The Quality Analyst position requires post-secondary education (preferably in sciences) or equivalent job experience with a minimum of 2 years of related manufacturing experience as an asset.  The individual should have good computer skills as it relates to word processing, databases, and the use of spreadsheets. Strong communication and teamwork skills are required for this position. Experience working with SAP would be considered an asset.  Other assets would include experience or skills involving problem solving tools such as 8D.
