Industrial Electrician

We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to join our maintenance team at Mativ, Renfrew. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and controls to ensure efficient, safe, and continuous plant operations. This role is critical to supporting production uptime and process reliability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including motors, control panels, lighting, and power distribution systems.

  • Perform preventive and predictive electrical maintenance on plant equipment such as mixers, slitters, conveyors, filling machines, and packaging lines.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical malfunctions using schematics, wiring diagrams, and testing equipment.

  • Ensure compliance with provincial, federal and plant-specific electrical and safety standards.

  • Calibrate and maintain instrumentation and control systems related to temperature, pressure, flow, and batch processing.

  • Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.

  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Assist with electrical installations and modifications during plant upgrades, expansions, or new equipment commissioning.

  • Respond to emergency breakdowns as needed.

Required:

  • High school diploma.

  • Completion of a formal electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent training.

  • 3+ years of industrial electrical experience, preferably in a chemical, adhesive, or process manufacturing environment.

  • Proficient with reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and ladder logic diagrams.

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and hazardous materials handling.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in environments involving heat, chemicals, noise, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights or in awkward positions.

  • Use of PPE such as gloves, goggles, respirators, and flame-resistant clothing as required.

  • Shiftwork (Days, Afternoons, Evenings)
