Process Engineer Intern

responsibilities:

  • The leadership intern will be exposed to Safety, Quality, Performance, Cost, and Production Planning of a production line in Retail Department of the Neenah Converting Center (NCC). 
  • Develop an understanding of risk identification and mitigation actions in the manufacturing environment.  Utilize safety systems for reporting, investigation, and action tracking.    
  • Participate in and improve the Tier 1 (shift-to-shift turnover) process to enable operators to properly communicate and escalate problems that are impacting the ability of the crew to meet expectations for the shift.
  • Coordinate the resolution of identified quality defects to ensure high quality delivery of products to our customers with minimizing downtime on the line.  This will require coordination with the Quality and Production Planning Teams.
  • Identify and implement solutions to improve the rate, uptime and yield of a converting line.  Coordinate with Operations, Continuous Improvement, Maintenance and Engineering to develop trial and implementation plans.  Develop an understanding of production data systems to support root cause analysis.
  • Develop an understanding of the staffing (vacations, qualifications, scheduling) processes needed to support production volumes.  Represent the converting line in weekly Operations/Planning meetings.

 

qualifications:

  • Individual must be currently enrolled and working toward a degree with a concentration in Paper Science, Chemistry or Engineering discipline.
  • Student will need to have completed a minimum of 1-full years of course work with preference for individuals who have completed 2-full years.
  • Preference is a minimum 3.0 GPA in your academic field of study.
  • Must have solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Ideal candidates will possess high initiative and drive, with a curiosity to perpetually learn and improve our business.
  • Key requirements include the ability to analyze information to find opportunities, effectively synthesize and communicate findings, and work collaboratively in a team setting.
