Description:
Mativ is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our team as the Mill Tactical Buyer for our Munising facility. The Mill Tactical Buyer will be responsible for all assigned purchasing and material planning activities. The primary responsibilities of this position include procurement of services, base paper, packaging, capital equipment, and operating supplies. It may also include raw material planning and inventory management as needed. This role provides day-to-day support to the operations team and serves as the primary contact between the site and suppliers. The role reports to the Procurement Manager.
Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Drive improvements to support the Mativ’s Mill costs, operational, safety and quality objectives while maximizing the value of our spending
- Ensure requirements for materials and services are procured in a timely manner ensuring quality, service, and best overall value for Mativ
- Establish and manage sourcing strategies to support business objectives
- Evaluate spending and utilization of materials to drive out cost
- Manage vendor relationships to drive continuous improvement and mitigate risk
- Act as a communication facilitator between Mativ and suppliers
- Manage and ensure the application of established corporate and department controls within the organization by providing direction and support
- Negotiate agreements for the facility outside of those managed by the corporate sourcing team which includes but is not limited to services, capital equipment, packaging, and base paper
- Collaborate with the corporate procurement and sourcing teams on projects, needs, and priorities
- Actively participate with the mill leadership team to drive overall business unit results
- Represent and provide professional and ethical leadership for Mativ both internally and externally
- Serve as primary contact for purchase order changes/invoice discrepancies
- Maintain accurate files and records on all purchasing documents including but not limited to Supplier Evaluations and other ISO requirements for the Munising Mill
- Ongoing safety support including contractor safety program, inspections, hazard ID’s, (reporting in Velocity), keep work area neat, clean, organized and free of safety hazards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years prior related work experience in a procurement and/or manufacturing capacity
- Excellent relationship management skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with external suppliers and internal customers
- Strong mathematical and computer/technology skills required
- Strong influencer to drive savings projects in other areas of responsibility as well as negotiate with suppliers
- Become subject matter expert (SME) for all purchasing needs in Oracle for mill
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize work demands
