Mativ's facility in Minneapolis, MN is seeking an experienced Process Engineer. The process engineer role is key in our business as a link between Operations, Product and Process development, Quality and Engineering. This position will drive scrap and waste reduction, production improvements, variation reduction, and standardization; taking a hands-on and collaborative approach.
Responsibilities:
- To understand Mativ Conwed manufacturing processes.
- Ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
- Identify and eliminate process variation through detailed data collection analysis and re-engineering.
- Collect and use data to deliver waste reduction, efficiency improvements, continuous improvements.
- Analyze, collect, interpret, compile database reports.
- Perform in-depth data analysis using statistical software and methods.
- Conduct and document Installation qualification (IQ), operations qualification (OQ) and process qualification (PQ) of process machinery and equipment.
- Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of production processes.
- Produce standard work instructions, process flow diagram in compliance with ISO 9001 guidelines.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure satisfactory project design and implementation.
- Provide process and troubleshooting support.
- Provide standard equipment training as necessary.
- Provide presentations to align stakeholders on process development and problem solving work.
- Ability to travel up to 20% domestically
- Additional duties as assigned.
Process and Product Development
- Make recommendations on functional product improvements such as light-weighting, new packaging designs, and/or performance improvements.
- Partner with customers and sales to improve existing products and commercialize new products.
- Perform trials to evaluate and qualify new production processes.
- Collect, record, and transcribe data and complete analysis of the trial results including recommendations.
- Define the standard process conditions (SOC) and materials for new products.
- Identify alternate material sources in the BOM to reduce costs and qualify suppliers.
- Manage the material change process.
- Research and present options for the purchase of new manufacturing technology.
- Create ERP items
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering (preferably chemical, polymer/plastic, or mechanical)
- 3 years of manufacturing experience
- Hands-on plastics extrusion/processing or continuous process experience preferred
- Data acquisition, SPC, analysis of variance, trend analysis
- Knowledge of experimental methods such as correlation analysis and DOE
- Experience in applying scientific methods such as PDCA or DMAIC
- Project management experience
- Experienced in polymer extrusion, web handling, slitting, winding of rolled media is preferred
- Knowledge in the calculation of OEE
- Statistical software tools such as Minitab
Salary Range: $80,000 to $110,000
