R&D Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Under general direction, R&D Technician works directly with R&D engineer in all facets of product development. 

 

Responsibilities: 

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:  

 

  • Blends polymer mixes for lab trials and maintains detailed recordkeeping of blends and process conditions. 

  • Operates pilot blown and cast extrusion equipment, including set up of tooling. 

  • Maintains R&D inventory 

  • Performs routine tests necessary for R&D trials.  

  • Documentation of trial observations. 

  • Maintaining R&D samples and files.  

  • Assist in commercial product trials 

  • Interface with customers during pilot trials 

  • Maintain general housekeeping and safety practices. 

  • May perform as back up to production as necessary. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

Required Education & Skillsets:  

 

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.   

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  

  •  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.   

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.   

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 

  • Knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
