Maintenance Shift Lead

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Maintenance Shift Lead coordinates shift direction based on internal customer needs, paying attention to safety, labor accountability, and shift success. The Maintenance Shift Lead also repairs and maintains production machinery and equipment such as, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties. This position communicates the status of all projects and initiatives to the leader.

 

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

 

  • Performs preventative maintenance duties as prescribed by the CMMS such as greasing plant equipment, changing oil, cleaning filters, as well as general equipment maintenance
  • Performs safety talks at the beginning of shift
  • Keeps tier 2 board up to date for shift
  • Builds work orders for technicians
  • Verifies housekeeping areas/6S
  • Communicates with production supervisor / tech super on a regular basis
  • Redirects maintenance labor as needed on shift
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical devices in operation
  • Cleans, organizes and maintains parts inventory
  • Assists shift personnel with tooling functions
  • Makes tooling packets for shift
  • Other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

 

Required Education & Skillsets: 

 

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
  • 1 years related experience1 year experience in a maintenance position in a manufacturing environment
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) combination of education and experience.
  • 1 year experience in a maintenance position in a manufacturing environment
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.                     
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through use of email and verbal communication.
  • Possess some welding skills or willingness to learn.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, if necessary, between plants or to obtain parts.

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • Be able to lift a and or move up to 50 pounds
  • Be able to push or pull heavy objects up to 250 pounds
  • Be able to work 12 hours shifts
  • Perform repetitive tasks
  • Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk
  • Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist and balance; sometimes in awkward or tight spaces
  • Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
  • Meet Mativ certification requirements to operate Power Industrial Trucks
