JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under general direction, the Controls Technician/Electrician manages all control field devices that are part of the process control and instrumentation technology in the Plant. This position installs new programmable logic controllers (PLC) and programs for new machines or changes to existing ones. The Controls Technician/Electrician creates and updates PanelView applications for operating these programs, in order to make operations as efficient as possible. This position also communicates the status of all projects and initiatives to their leader.
Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Oversees plant wide machinery focus reliability of instruments, and process variability reduction programs.

Works with process engineers and supervisors in the areas to develop and apply the appropriate strategies.

Plans, and assists technicians on short- and long-term maintenance activities across the plants with emphasis on reliability and reducing process variability.

Prepares, edits and implements standard company and Plant best practices for process control instrumentation maintenance, reliability, and variability reduction.

Participates in prioritization and scheduling of process control teamwork.

Designs, update and maintain appropriate technical documentation.

Innovates designs for certain components that will affect the functionality of machines as well as make them safer.

Researches new technologies that can better the plants’ efficiency.

Attending project meetings to discuss machines and or upgrades.

Keeps projects on track and coming up with solutions to problems that may arise.

Works with other team members to complete tasks/projects in a timely manner.

Communicates project or machine issues in a clear and effective manner, along with potential solutions to all necessary personnel.

Communicates timelines and meets deadlines efficiently and safely for projects or downed machines.

Uses various trending techniques within PLCs and documentation to better the efficiency and safety of machinery.

Qualifications:
Required Education & Skillsets:
- Massachusetts journeyman electrical license
- Technical associates degree (preferred) or equivalent work experience

3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment

Strong interpersonal skills

PLCs, Drive’s Programming and Troubleshooting

Auto-Cad

Ability to participate in cross-functional teams.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to operate drills, grinders, and other maintenance shop tools.

Ability to work within the CMMS to capture work conducted on machines, repairs, asset adds, capital improvements.

Ability to travel, if necessary, between plants or to obtain parts.

Valid drivers license with reliable transportation.
