Plant Manager

Summary of Responsibilities

The Plant Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating all activities at our Genk production facility. This includes overall site leadership in safety, environmental compliance, quality, production, maintenance, and cost control. Effective and engaging leadership is critical to the success of this role.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to department heads to achieve manufacturing objectives in line with established procedures and safety standards.

  • Act as a liaison between management and hourly employees, ensuring clear communication of policies, decisions, and performance expectations.

  • Direct and support supervisors in achieving site goals and operational excellence.

  • Lead safety and environmental initiatives, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Develop and implement plans to reduce environmental waste, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage potential emergency situations.

  • Communicate regularly with employees regarding manufacturing performance and incentive plan progress.

  • Ensure the site achieves annual operational and cost objectives.

  • Develop and execute an operating plan that aligns with the overall business strategy.

  • Manage capital investment projects that enhance plant operations and efficiency.

  • Maintain high standards of product quality, equipment reliability, and workforce performance.

  • Lead Operational Excellence initiatives across the facility.

  • Oversee supply chain support systems to achieve key metrics such as on-time delivery.

  • Recruit, train, develop, and evaluate staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and local labor regulations.

  • Collaborate with HR to support employee relations and development plans.

  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce cost and waste, and optimize production standards.

  • Lead major plant projects (e.g., layout changes, capital installations, major repairs).

  • Stay current with technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and compliance.

  • Serve as Chairperson of the Safety Committee and Trade Union, leading all related meetings.

  • Lead the Belgian Management Team and facilitate daily operations meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Business Administration, or a related Engineering discipline.

  • 7–10+ years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a resin-based or continuous process-oriented environment.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English, including the ability to present information clearly and respectfully.

  • Analytical mindset with strong decision-making skills.

  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.

  • Proactive and solution-oriented, with a strong sense of personal responsibility.

  • Demonstrated success in continuous improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma initiatives (certification a plus).

  • Experience in resin manufacturing technologies and processes preferred.
