SUMMER INTERN PROGRAM: May 18, 2026 – August 7, 2026
DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Technical Writer Intern to support our manufacturing operations by creating and refining technical documentation. This role is ideal for someone passionate about clear communication and interested in learning how documentation supports safety, efficiency, and compliance in a manufacturing setting.
The Mativ Summer Internship Program is scheduled to start on May 18, 2026 – August 7, 2026. Our paid internship offers a well-rounded experience including: meaningful work, dedicated intern manager, community service, professional development and more.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, safety manuals, and equipment guides.
- Collaborate with engineers, production supervisors, and quality teams to gather accurate technical information.
- Observe manufacturing processes to understand workflows and translate them into clear documentation.
- Ensure documentation complies with industry standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining document control systems.
- Support internal audits by preparing and reviewing documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Industrial Technology, English, or a related field.
- Familiarity with documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, or Adobe Acrobat.
- Interest in manufacturing processes, safety standards, and quality systems.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with document control systems or quality management systems (QMS).
- Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
- Ability to read technical drawings or schematics.
Competencies:
- Comfortable working in a plant or production environment.
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts clearly.
- A team player with exceptional organizational and technical skills
