Sr. Category Manager

We have an exciting opportunity to join Mativ’s Global Sourcing Team, as a Sr. Category Manager, Indirect. The Sr. Category Manager for Indirect is an experienced member of Mativ’s Global Sourcing team, charged with driving compelling results and value to the business through strategic procurement activities.  This role will support the broader vision of the Global Procurement Organization.

This role will be responsible for assigned categories, including but not limited to HR, Legal, Consulting, Accounting, Audit, Tax, Benefits, Insurance, Banking and Finance Services.

The Sr. Category Manager will help Mativ meet strategic goals related to growth, cost savings, and risk management.  This role will serve as a liaison between Mativ and its suppliers during competitive sourcing processes and will be responsible for managing and delivering strong results that support the category strategy and provide significant value to the business.  The ideal candidate should possess a track record of distinctive sourcing results across a diverse set of stakeholders and categories. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy/Sourcing: Develop and manage sourcing strategies for assigned categories, including spend analysis, benchmarking, cost, market analysis and technology/economic trends to ensure optimal cost of ownership as well as optimum service levels.
  • Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain key internal stakeholder relationships to create strategic sourcing models that optimize the value of products and services that support business unit requirements to maintain continuous cost reduction programs for controllable expenditures. Communicate, manage, provide solutions and drive compliance to category strategies.
  • Change Management: Successfully partner across functions and with senior internal stakeholders and external suppliers to drive results, influence others and facilitate change management across the company. Proactively identify opportunities to optimize sourcing workflows and drive continuous efficiency improvements.
  • Contract Management: Responsible for authoring contract documents with the Legal Department. Management of contracts ensuring performance of the supplier to contract obligations. Understand interrelationships between contracts and terms while applying creativity and sound business reasoning to interpret the application of contracts to business needs.
  • Negotiations: Utilize negotiations to maximize value and cost savings benefits while lowering risk.
  • Supplier Management: Manage suppliers for assigned category. Create and implement related management programs to develop, continuously improve, manage the performance of, and monitor KPIs of the supply base.
  • Analysis: Responsible for advanced quantitative analysis to identify financial impacts of decisions and performance for category managed. Perform business process analysis and develop models to improve cost. Collaborate with stakeholders to define SLAs and KPIs for suppliers and measure the appropriate criteria, such as delivery of business results, cost reduction, quality, and timeliness of delivery.
  • Tactical Purchasing - Place purchase orders and resolve invoices related to assigned categories
  • Manage assignments independently with minimal instruction, ensuring deliverables meet or exceed defined expectations.

Qualifications:

 

Required:

  • B.S/B. A from four-year accredited college or university; MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing/procurement, with strong understanding and demonstrated success in indirect corporate expense categories
  • Demonstrated leadership in data-driven and strategic cross-functional efforts, with success in managing projects and influencing business unit stakeholders
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize appropriately to meet internal customer and company needs
  • Capable of working independently to achieve and exceed results
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Comfortable with organizational change; able to thrive in a rapidly changing business environment
  • Must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (word processing, email, PowerPoint, Excel, spreadsheet, database, and Internet)
  • Results-driven with demonstrated successful outcomes
  • Excellent oral and written communications and presentation skills
