Our North American Scapa Tapes segment is growing and looking for a Product Manager to help drive the transformation of our business within the Building & Construction and Industrial Tapes/Adhesives category through insights-based strategies that increase profitability and enable a product pipeline that delivers on the unmet needs of the market

 

The primary responsibilities for the Product Manager include business strategy development and product roadmap ownership for business categories, marketing strategy, and driving the profitability of the business.

 

Responsibilities

 

Develop business strategy and product roadmap based on market and customer insights to drive category growth.

 

  • Perform research to develop clear understanding of markets, customers, competition, relative performance, positioning and right to win for products.
  • Seek industry and market trends relevant to products.
  • Identify gaps in product portfolio and unmet market needs.
  • Develop roadmap for specific products aligned with business segment strategy.
  • Through work with Operations and R&D, assess gaps in technology and manufacturing capabilities in implementing product road map and develop action plans to address. Work with team to identify potential solutions.

 

Manage development and commercialization of new products.

 

  • Initiate/Define new product development projects aligned with business segment strategy.
  • Own prioritization of pipeline, ensuring value creation through innovation and alignment with R&D through project execution
  • Develop specific project and business plans including opportunity size, product requirements, pricing, and value proposition.
  • Execute project plans; actively shepherding development and commercialization projects working closely with R&D, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Operations, & customers/OEM partners.

 

 

Drive Marketing Excellence

 

  • Lead product pricing, working in partnership with cross-functional team (e.g. Sales Leadership, Finance, etc.)
  • Partner with Marketing Communications to advance our marketing capability through ownership of brand strategy and communications
  • Collaborate with the cross-functional team to define strategic objectives, communication priorities, and manage content development.

 

 

Partner with the sales team to deliver on the business strategy.

 

  • Perform sales training on products.
  • Collaborate with marketing leads to develop and maintain sales tools- Collateral, Product Demos/Sample Kits, Website, Advertising, Press Releases, White Papers, etc.
  • Assist in developing content and presenting innovations & insights to strategic customers.
  • Participate in customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events to gather market intelligence.

 

 

Qualifications 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials), or a related field.
  • Three to five years of product management in B2B manufacturing working closely with sales, marketing and R&D teams; industrial materials experience preferred.
  • Three plus years of marketing experience (promotions, product placement & pricing or general industry support) 
  • Demonstrated history of NPD pipeline development and successful commercialization execution
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%
  • Experience in Building & Construction Materials and/or Adhesive Tapes is a plus 
  • Product/Project Management training and certification is desirable.
